Gamer Hate

Belligerently lacking in remorse.

About

There are so many things in this world that require the focused laser hot beams of my hatred. Games and the game industry in general have been the focus of my ire for a while, but that’s certainly not the only topic I’ll expound on. Humanity in general is filled with such blatant stupidity that I’d be remiss if I didn’t piss on every last creation it has ever deemed worthy of public consumption.

I figure, if I can work out my hatred this way, maybe I’ll be a nicer person in general…

Credentials: I have worked in the game industry for over 17 years. I started at the “bottom” in Quality Assurance and crawled my way up into development via Level Design. I’ve worked on some of the top selling PC games and a critically acclaimed (but commercial failure) console title. I’ve spent the last 6 years travelling the world, consulting with a variety of developers in Europe and Asia.

Ask Me Questions: If you have a question about game development, the game industry, specific games or people in the game industry or anything game related, send it to CommanderHate@gmail.com. I won’t answer all questions, but I will answer the big ones with a new blog entry. =)

  1. Since you suggested this on one of your blog entries, what was it like working with Rob Pardo?

  3. Why are the controls on sooo many consols games still hardcoded when they know they will probably option it for a PC port? Performance shouldnt be a problem on modern consoles.
